Comprehensive solutions for the full spectrum of sleep problems

While many sleep clinics automatically assess patients for only the most common sleep problems, at REM Sleep Diagnostics, every patient benefits from a comprehensive, personalized evaluation. The conditions we commonly assess for and treat include:

Chronic Snoring

This extremely common problem can disrupt the sleep of family members and cause great tension and embarrassment. Snoring may also be a symptom of sleep apnea.

Sleep Apnea

This serious sleep disorder occurs when breathing is interrupted due to muscle collapse in the back of the throat. People with sleep apnea can sometimes stop breathing hundreds of times during the night. Untreated sleep apnea causes abnormal daytime sleepiness, and can also lead to high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, an irregular heartbeat and heart attacks.

Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)

This precursor to sleep apnea occurs when abnormal muscle relaxation in the throat makes it harder to breathe, resulting in fragmented sleep and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Narcolepsy

This neurological disorder affects the control of sleep and wakefulness, causing excessive daytime sleepiness and uncontrollable episodes of falling asleep during normal waking hours.

Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)

This disorder causes tingling, pulling or other painful sensations in the legs at night that make it extremely difficult to fall asleep.

  • Drowsiness and fatigue are a direct cause of 100,000 car crashes, 1,550 deaths and 71,000 injuries each year.

Helping you overcome the potentially devastating effects of sleep disorders

Adequate, high quality sleep is critical to your physical, emotional and psychological well-being. Yet according to the National Sleep Foundation, 70 million Americans suffer from sleep problems or disorders, with 40 million suffering on a chronic basis. Unfortunately, the vast majority go undiagnosed and untreated, with serious and wide-ranging effects.

Loud, chronic snoring can cause sleep deprivation for bed partners and create tension in the home. Sleep apnea can lead to serious health problems such as stroke and heart attack.
Sleep disorders can also impair your performance on the job and put you at risk for auto accidents.

At REM Sleep Diagnostics, We are committed to helping you overcome these challenges. We are not an impersonal institutional program or a sleep medicine chain. Sleep and Dental Health Testing Program

Do you suffer from…
Chronic snoring?
Daytime sleepiness?
Headaches or jaw pain?
You may have a sleep disorder.

According to the National Sleep Foundation, 70 million Americans
suffer from sleep problems or disorders, with 40 million suffering
on a chronic basis. Unfortunately, the vast majority are undiagnosed
and untreated.

Perhaps the most serious sleep disorder is Obstructive Sleep Apnea
(OSA). OSA occurs when breathing is interrupted during sleep. Risk
factors for sleep apnea include:

Left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to serious health problems including high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, irregular heartbeats and heart attacks. Untreated sleep disorders can also impair your performance on the job and put you at greater risk for auto accidents.

Your first step is a dental exam and sleep study

Your dentist will meet with you to discuss your symptoms and perform an initial evaluation. If necessary, you will then undergo a sleep study (polysomnography) at one of  REM Sleep Diagnostics’  comfortable, ultra-quiet sleep centers. You’ll enjoy a private room with all the amenities of a high-end hotel, including a private bathroom, cherry wood furnishings, and a comfortable bed with a down comforter.

REM Sleep Diagnostics follows strict and proven guidelines
established by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, which
assures every patient of having the most thorough, safe and
accurate sleep evaluation possible.

Comprehensive solutions and VIP treatment

Your dentist and REM Sleep Diagnostics will use the results of your sleep study to design a customized treatment plan to effectively address your sleep issues. If a dental appliance is indicated, your dentist will work with you to provide the most comfortable and effective fit possible.

As a result, you’ll enjoy dramatic relief from snoring and other sleep disorder symptoms. This improved sleep will make a positive difference in your work, relationships and overall health.

About Dental Appliances for Sleep Disorders

Dental appliances work to treat sleep apnea by keeping the airway open in one of three ways: by pushing the lower jaw forward (a mandibular advancement device or MAD), by preventing the tongue from falling back over the airway (a tongue- retaining device), or by combining both mechanisms.

GOOD NEWS!

Your dentist and REM Sleep Diagnostics have joined forces to provide simple, highly effective solutions.

Although CPAP breathing devices are recognized as the “gold standard” for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, many patients prefer to wear a dental appliance to alleviate OSA symptoms. Your dentist and REM Sleep Diagnostics can evaluate your condition and determine if a dental appliance is the right solution for you.
