What are allergies?​

An allergy (allergies) is an overly sensitive (hypersensitive) disorder of the immune system. If you are allergic, your immune system abnormally responds to your triggers.​

These triggers are called allergen or antigen. ​
Antigens

Includes pollen, dust mites, mold spores, pet dander, food, insect stings, and medicines.​
Allergens enter your body by four different routes:

Contact allergens enter your skin by touch.
Ex. Poison ivy, latex gloves, jewelry.
IngestionEx. Ex. food, drugs
Injection
Ex. medications, bee sting
Inhalation
Ex. pollens, dust mite, molds, animal dander
